ARTIST BIO – Jason “Dorje” Greenberg

Jason “Dorje” Greenberg (FreshSqueezedArt) is an artist and musician born in London, raised in Los Angeles, who moved to Santa Cruz in 1995. His parents were both photographers who worked at the Venice art collective, Environmental Communications, in the 1970s. His mother later became an interior designer, and his father went on to invent microscopes and to photograph sand grains under the microscope (sandgrains.com). For the past 10+ years Jason has been working at UCSC in the Art Department as an administrative specialist. Dorje is his Tibetan Buddhist name.

He mostly paints acrylic on canvas - abstract works exploring the interplay of positive and negative space, inspired by nature, flow and fractals. Most of his paintings are stream of consciousness with no planned outcome. There is no masking involved and all these works are one-of-a-kind hand painted originals.

His band is called Arcane Lullaby (arcanelullaby.com) where he is the songwriter, lyricist, guitarist, producer, manager, and he played the guitars and bass on both albums. The all-original band plays an eclectic mix of musical styles. Painting #114 was used on the cover of the album Innermost Seer.
